About Crochetasticboutique
A Garage Door Company That Talks About Materials
Crochetasticboutique repairs garage doors across Huntington Beach and the coastal cities either side of it. What we do is ordinary enough. Springs, cables, rollers, hinges, seals, openers and the tracks they all hang from. What we do differently is tell you which version of each part is going on your door, and why.
That habit came out of frustration rather than marketing. We spent years arriving at doors that had been repaired competently two or three years earlier and had already failed again, and the cause was almost always the same. Somebody had fitted the standard inland part in a garage four blocks from the sand. The labour had been fine. The workmanship had been fine. The steel was simply wrong for where it was hanging.
Two things go on in the air here. Salt in the marine layer holds moisture against bare and lightly plated steel and starts corrosion, which pits the surface, and a pit in a spring or a cable is where the failure will begin. Blown sand does something separate. It works into anything with an open bearing, and an open bearing full of fine sand stops being a bearing and starts being a grinder. A roller that will not spin freely drags in the track, and that drag transfers straight into the hinges.
How We Work
- We name the grade. Wire type on a spring, strand construction on a cable, gauge on a hinge, polymer on a seal. A quote that only names the part is not really a quote.
- We say no to upgrades that do not earn it. Some of what gets sold as coastal specification is genuine. Some of it is a spray applied at the end of the visit. We will tell you which is which.
- We work to the standards that matter. Photo eye entrapment protection under UL 325 gets tested on every opener visit, and any opener we supply carries the battery backup California has required since July 2019.
- We stock the coastal parts. Sealed nylon rollers, zinc coated spring wire and both cable grades ride in the van, so the right specification does not mean waiting a week for an order.
